Founded in 2006, the association Journalisme & Citoyenneté is dedicated to fostering dialogue among journalists, publishers, and citizens so that together they can establish the conditions necessary for the production of quality news—without which no democracy can exist.

European Agora for Journalism

Strasbourg

The European Agora for Journalism focuses on the challenges and developments facing journalism in the European Union. After two editions in Brussels, the European Agora for Journalism will move to Strasbourg in 2026.

Mediterranean Agora for Journalism

Marseille

Held every two years, the Mediterranean Agora for Journalism focuses on the specific challenges facing the media in the Mediterranean region. After two editions in Tunis, the event is now based in Marseille, further strengthening ties between media professionals on both sides of the Mediterranean.

Tours

The Tours Agora for Journalism is a major annual event dedicated to reflection and debate on contemporary journalism. Each year, these gatherings bring together more than 6,000 citizens, media professionals, researchers, and students.

Media and Information Literacy

Throughout life

Media and Information Literacy (MIL) is at the heart of Journalisme & Citoyenneté’s mission.

Each edition of the Assises du Journalisme features a program entirely dedicated to media and information literacy, as well as awards ceremonies that recognize the best educational projects.

Fostering dialogue on media independence in the Mediterranean

Launched in 2021 as a follow-up to the first Mediterranean Agora for Journalism, which was held in Tunis three years earlier, the Sahafa Med program connects journalists from the Arab world and fosters dialogue among them regarding the issues and challenges they face.
